ACTING TECHNIQUE

This workshop plays out as an introduction to the foundations of acting that any young performer should be aware of. It is a combination of techniques inspired by drama school classes in order to improve your students understanding of acting and what they should be doing with a character/scene. This 2 hour workshop will focus on improving your students acting ability immediately and will give them a fantastic outline to use when approaching any type of acting in the future.

MONOLOGUES

Accepted Answer

In this workshop monologues will be of a main focus, the students will be given a modern speech or can use one of their own and will receive first hand knowledge and re direction on their chosen pieces as well as exploring the character in a unique way and learning vibrant, challenging drama school inspired techniques. Additionally we will supply tips and tricks for auditions as well as a drama school Q and A at the end of the class.

DUOLOGUES

Accepted Answer

This workshop centres around breaking down a scene between two characters and building into a well rounded and entertaining performance. This is an advanced class diving into the depths of what makes a scene work well and will giving the students a fantastic blueprint for approaching challenging duologues/scenes in the future.

Question 4

SHAKESPEARE

Accepted Answer

We understand how daunting Shakespeare can be, especially to students but with this workshop we will look to introduce Shakespearian language in a fun and exciting way. We will focus on a classical monologue in depth, discussing the language, breaking down the text and focusing on the rules to performing a fantastic classical piece of acting. The class works with techniques learnt at drama schools such as LAMDA and The Oxford School of Drama, accelerating your students to the highest level of classical acting in just one class.

Question 5

IMPROVISATION (BASIC)

In this workshop the students will be introduced to improvisation on a basic level and will learn how improv works as well as having a go at some fun, well round exercises. We will specifically be looking at Making bold offers, saying YES, listening, accepting, committing and endowing a scene. All our improvisation classes are taught using techniques learnt from drama school teachers, improvisation Gurus and 'Showstopper stars' Adam Megiddo and Shaun McCann.

Question 6

IMPROVISATION (ADVANCED)

Accepted Answer

This workshop focuses on the advanced techniques of group improvisation and will focus on pushing the students to their improvisational limits. We will look at status, Endowment, emotional change and incorporation as well as using comedy within improv and the effects that may have on an audience. All our improvisation classes are taught using techniques learnt from drama school teachers, improvisation Gurus and 'Showstopper stars' Adam Megiddo and Shaun McCann.

Question 7

PHYSICAL THEATRE

Physical theatre is a demanding part of storytelling but we believe at ACT1 we have found a way to break down the key foundations and components for young adults. We aim on introducing the students to techniques such as mirroring, physical movement and contact improv using exercises inspired by top UK physical theatre companies including Frantic Assembly and Gecko.

Question 8

DEVISING

Accepted Answer

This Devising workshop will really dive into the key areas of creating your own pieces of theatre and exploring that creative process through different advanced techniques such as Tableaux's, Stimuli and much more. We will also look to challenge the students wherever we can and really push them to the limits within the creative process proving we will deliver a 2 hour devising workshop of the highest standard.
